CARS President and Marketing Manager have an informal discussion with the WRC promoter about the WRC coming to Canada.

October 21, 2011

Open discussion with CARS board about the reasons to consider a WRC event and what structure the event should have.

January 13, 2012

CARS Board decides to cost share on Keith Morison’s trip to Rally Sweden to observe the event and meet with FIA officials.

February 3, 2012

Met with FIA WRC Commission President Jarmo Mahonen and WRC Manager Michelle Mouton for informal discussion of bringing the WRC to Canada.

March 15, 2012

Business case reviewed and project put on hold until more information on marketing/promotion plans are available.

May 10, 2017

Reopen discussions with WRC Promoter.

June 14, 2017

CARS Board approves proposal to re-start investigation into hosting a WRC event.

August 1, 2017

Founding Board members start discussions around the Rally Promoter Association of Canada.

February 8, 2018

Official Launch of the Rally Promoter Association of Canada

December 31, 2018

Complete preliminary discussions with government agencies and develop foundation of event business plan.

December 31, 2019

Identify and foster local and national relationships. Develop complete understanding of FIA and WRC team expectations. Further develop business plan and build preliminary budget

December 31, 2020

Final business plan and budget in place. Critical funding agreements in place. Event schedule in place for trial, observation, and final events defined.

February 21, 2021

Hold trial event, confirming suitability of venues and new stages.

February 19, 2022

Successful observation event in front of FIA officials.
